Barcelona Ready for First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in La Liga two and a half years since relocating to allow renovations to start.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a renovated tunnel for players and new dressing rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barcelona held an open training session inside the stadium in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
